about

"Kołowrót" means "Turnstile" and it is the collaborative album between Bastarda and the SWPS University Choir directed by Ewa Mackiewicz. Original musical journey into traditions, ceremonials, and rituals connected to the four seasons, as well as the cyclicity of nature. Using references to traditional folk music, along with medieval sources, Bastarda Trio created original compositions which have achieved a deeper narrative dimension through the collaborative process with the choir. These compositions became audio tales about the most important changes both in nature and in culture, as well as the ceremonials connected with the same.

Through collaboration with Radio Center of Folk Culture, Magdalena Tejchma, Remek Hanaj and musicologist Antonio Chemotti, the musicians found incredibly inspiring sources which galvanised their creative process.
The project was created in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the SWPS University's establishment and the 20th anniversary of the Choir's existence.
